
Monk, Green Announce 'Route 281' Tour
Art Monk and Darrell Green, Hall of Famers in waiting, have spent a significant portion of their lives reaching out to youngsters in need.
Now that both Monk and Green are back in the spotlight, they've joined together with a novel vision.
Darrell Green, Art Monk Earn Hall of Fame Honors
The NFL announced Feb. 2 that former Washington Redskins' players Darrell Green and Art Monk have been selected into the NFL Hall of Fame. "This is a great day for the Redskins. Two players who personify class in their professional and personal lives are being celebrated at the highest level for the things so cherished by their fans," said Redskins owner Daniel M. Snyder. "I know I speak for every fan when we say this is so richly deserved."
Monk and Green Selected for NFL’s Hall
When cornerback Darrell Green joined the Washington Redskins as a rookie in 1983, he struggled to defend wide receiver Art Monk in training camp. After practices, a frustrated Green would return to his dorm room and tell himself, “I can’t cover these guys.”
Green, Monk Voted Into Hall of Fame
They clutched each other's hand hard in a giant room in the Phoenix Convention Center on Saturday afternoon, husband and wife, even though it was obvious to everyone around Darrell and Jewell Green that the announcement on the television before them was a formality. A Washington Redskin for 20 seasons, Darrell Green was going to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

For Art Monk, it's been seven years, and for Darrell Green, first time's a charm. Two Redskins greats and fan favorites, the Quiet Man and the Ageless Wonder, were voted into the Hall of Fame this weekend. The accolades for the two could fill a book, with both being Super Bowl champions and multiple Pro Bowl selections.
